Mazovian Trail of Tradition: heritage in an app

Client: Mazowiecki Szlak Tradycji

Business context

The Administration of the Mazovian Voivodeship set out to document, protect and promote the richness of local traditions, addressing both residents of the region and audiences around the world. What was needed was a digital solution that would present cultural heritage in an engaging way and make it easier to plan visits to places connected with the traditions of Mazovia.

The region’s complex history and administrative changes have meant that contemporary Mazovia also brings together customs rooted in neighbouring cultures. This mosaic of themes – from 18th- and 19th-century architecture to cuisine and craftsmanship – required a coherent yet flexible presentation in a digital environment.

The goal was to create a solution that combined factual reliability with a modern user experience, using multimedia and navigation features to effectively promote the region’s heritage and increase its accessibility.

Challenge

The client needed a scalable platform for the systematic cataloguing and presentation of heritage content in a format that would be easy for a broad audience to discover. A key requirement was to combine different content formats (text, photos, video) while maintaining high readability and intuitive usability.

Functionality supporting cultural tourism was also required: an interactive map, an events calendar and route planning. The entire solution had to run smoothly on popular platforms, providing a consistent experience regardless of device.

Solution

We built the interactive “Mazovian Trail of Tradition” application using .NET and Angular technologies, available on iOS and Windows. At the core of the solution is a clear information architecture and fast search and filtering mechanisms that make it easier to discover resources.

The application integrates content on folk traditions, 18th- and 19th-century architecture, regional cuisine and craftsmanship. An extensive photo and video gallery captures the atmosphere of places and practices, while carefully edited descriptions provide cultural context, ensuring both credibility and accessibility of the message.

Practical features include an events calendar and an interactive map that supports route planning across the most interesting locations in Mazovia. As a result, the application combines educational value with a practical guide, becoming a bridge between heritage and the modern expectations of its audience.
